Fixed Point Labs
About

Hi, I'm Clayton Waldock

Built straight. Priced straight. No surprises.

I grew up in rural Queensland in a carpentry family and spent years on tools alongside tradies before I ever wrote a line of code. Since then I've done six years as a software developer, and right now I'm serving as a technician in the ADF. Fixed Point Labs is what I'm building on the side, mostly so I've got a solid off-ramp once my service is done, and partly because I want to put that trade background to use for people like the ones I grew up around.

That's really why I care about trades, gyms and local shops specifically — especially around the Hunter Region, where I'm based. I've seen what it's like getting quoted agency prices for a job that never needed agency overhead in the first place, so I want a proper, custom-built site to be something a small operation can actually afford.

I'll be upfront that I use AI to help write code. Honestly, if anyone tells you they don't these days, I'd take that with a grain of salt. It's a tool though, not a replacement for me. Six years in the industry is what lets me tell when it's gotten something wrong, and what actually makes a site fast and accessible in the first place. You're still getting a developer who understands your site, not just whatever the AI spat out.

The plans on the services page cover most jobs, but they aren't the limit of what I can do. I take on projects big and small, websites and applications alike, so if something you need doesn't quite fit what's listed there, just get in touch and I'll see what I can work out.

How I work

What that looks like in practice

01

Straight talk

No jargon, no vague status updates. If something's off track or a good idea won't work, you'll hear it early.

02

Fast by default

Performance isn't an afterthought bolted on before launch. It's a constraint the site is built around from day one.

03

You see everything

You get access to the design and the code as it's built, not a single reveal at the end.

04

No lock-in

You own your code and your content on every plan. If you ever want to leave, you can take it all with you.
